What is Ontario Car Insurance?

Ontario car insurance is a policy that helps protect you and others in the event of an accident or a theft, vandalism or fire or bodily injury or accident benefits.  It’s a promise to pay in the event that disaster strikes. Each policy has different terms and coverage limits. At Ensurco, our primary responsibility is to protect you and your loved ones.  We’d be happy to assist you with your insurance needs by tailoring a policy unique to you and your needs.

What are Common Car Insurance Terms?

  • Premium - This is the amount you pay monthly or otherwise, in exchange for your insurance policy.
  • Policy Term - The length of time that your policy is active; from start to finish.
  • Physical Damage Coverage - This is a much more robust insurance policy. Not only does it cover collision but also, fire, theft, vandalism and natural disasters.
  • Deductibles - This is the amount you pay if you make an insurance claim resulting from a loss or damage. The higher your deductible, the lower your premiums.
  • Total Loss - If your car cannot be repaired, it is a Total Loss. Another word to describe is” write off”.
  •  Fault - You can be at-fault or not at fault. If you're at-fault, then you were the one responsible for the accident. Conversely, if you were not at fault, it was the other driver who caused it.
  •  Insurance Agent - An insurance agent is an employee of an insurance company. As such, they can only provide coverage and rates from one source - their own.
  •  Insurance Broker - An insurance broker acts as a third party to get you insurance coverage. Because they are independent, they can compare the rates of many providers to get you the best deal.

Where can I get Car Insurance?

You can obtain car insurance from most insurance providers in Ontario. But, we believe that it’s in your best interest to access the services of an insurance broker for your insurance needs. Insurance brokers work for you and not the insurance company.  An agent on the other hand, works for the insurance company.  A broker can access a lot of companies and provide comparison quotes.  An agent cannot.  Think about it, it makes sense.  An agent has access to 1 company and can only provide 1 quote..  A broker has access to multiple companies and can provide you with comparison quotes from a number of insurers.

How much is Ontario Car Insurance for a New Driver?

Car insurance rates differ based on many factors. Those factors include age, sex, years driving, where you live, what you drive, and much more. The simple fact is there is no standard answer for how much Ontario car insurance costs. As a new driver, you can expect to pay more than an experienced driver. Either way, we made our on-line quoting tool easy, fast and fun.  Check us out at ensurco.ca.

What does a Standard Insurance Policy Include?

Each policy is different but there are some standards. They include:
  • Third Party Liability, which covers you if someone is killed or injured, or property is damaged.
  • Statutory Benefits Coverage provide you with accident benefits in case you are injured in a car accident.
  • Direct Compensation covers the cost of damage to your car or property in event of an accident.
  • Uninsured Coverage protects you if you or others in your care are injured or killed by an uninsured motorist. It also includes hit-and-run situations.

How do I Prove I have Car Insurance?

You can prove you have insurance by keeping a liability certificate or "proof of insurance" card in your car. The card provides relevant information about your policy. By providing it to a police officer, they will have all they need to confirm you have insurance. Keep in mind that an expired policy or card will not cover you. It is illegal to drive a vehicle without current insurance.

    What our clients say

Claims service! Most people dread talking to an insurance company or broker to report a claim. But I recently called my insurance broker at Ensurco about a possible water damage claim. He was able to guide me through the process.  The decision was mine as to whether or not I would proceed with the claim.  If so, he explained that he could connect me directly with the insurance company adjuster and resolve the issue. Great advice and great service.  Thanks Ensurco!
